Virginia Robinson Gardens Tour & Lunch - Beverly Hills
Step back in time and experience Beverly Hills during the Classic Era at one of the most notable estates of the day, the home of Virginia and Harry Robinson of J.W. Robinson Department Store Company fame. Built in 1911, the Robinson home was the center of entertainment, welcoming guests such as Marlene Dietrich, Fred Astaire, Sophia Loren, Charlie Chaplin and the Duke and Duchess of Windsor.
Pillars of the business and social scene, the Robinsons were also car people who owned three Model J Duesenbergs (J-108, the first Murphy Convertible Coupe; J-114, a Derham Town Car; and J-171, a Derham Sedan), even more Model A Duesenbergs and a Cadillac Town Car.
Described as “Beverly Hills’ First Estate,” the Beaux Arts style home is enhanced with a pool, tennis courts and expansive gardens situated on the 6.2-acre property. We will tour a portion of the main house, the Pool Pavilion, the garages (with mechanic’s pit) and the lush, landscaped grounds. The property was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978
Following our docent-led 90 minute tour, we will enjoy delicious boxed sandwich lunches from Clementine’s on the Rose Terrace near the tennis court.

McPherson College Interns “Meet and Greet” Fiesta Garden Party
Join your fellow SoCal Region members as we welcome McPherson College interns to California for the summer! We will gather for a fiesta garden party in one of Pasadena’s residential historic districts for networking with McPherson College interns and representatives, socializing, cars of course and a catered lunch by Mijares Mexican Restaurant, family-owned and operated in Pasadena for over 100 years! There is plenty of street parking so drive your cars! McPherson students LOVE cars…all kinds…that’s what they study and what they do. Let’s give them a lot to look at with the cars representing our membership and region.
About McPherson College, McPherson, KS: Taken from McPherson College website, “The Automotive Restoration Technology Program at McPherson College was established in 1976 through the gift of over 125 classic and antique cars from local entrepreneur Gaines H. “Smokey” Billue. Additional donors contributed toward the construction of Templeton Hall, which serves as the home to the unique world-renowned program.
Jay Leno established the Fred S. Duesenberg Scholarship and the Jay Leno Popular Mechanics scholarship in 1997. Both scholarships still provide financial assistance to students interested in studying classic automotive restoration. His involvement raised awareness of the program in the car collector community.
McPherson College is the only school providing a bachelor’s degree in Restoration Technology, industry connections across the country and internship opportunities in a broad range of automotive settings. McPherson College entered a 1953 Mercedes-Benz 300 S completely restored by students at the 2023 Pebble Beach Concours d’ Elegance. The decade long project resulted in a historic 2nd in class podium spot.”
About Prospect Park: Development on the Prospect Park Tract began in 1904, and the first house was built there in 1906, the Green and Greene “Bentz House.” If entering the area on Prospect Blvd. from Orange Grove through the Greene and Greene-designed gate posts, it will be the Craftsman house on the left at the “dip” in the road. Prospect Park was Pasadena’s first neighborhood to receive “National Register of Historic Places” designation.
The houses are a variety of architectural styles and include works by Frank Lloyd Wright (La Miniatura, one of this first textile block houses in California), Charles and Henry Greene (Bentz House), Alfred and Arthur Heineman and Wallace Neff. The wide streets, lined with arched camphor trees, will provide a picturesque setting for your arrival and parking.
TIME & PLACE
11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The address is 511 La Mesa Place, Pasadena, 91103. There is plenty of available street parking.

CCCA Museum Jazz Experience
Mark those calendars for May 30th - June 1st! Planning is well underway for our 2025 Experience featuring the Jazz Age and registration will open soon! Attendees will be treated to a Krazy Kat dinner on Friday night, followed by a casino night and dancing before a live brass Jazz band inside the CCCA Museum. Guests will also be able to step back in time into our new exhibit; a recreation of the back-alley entrance of the Krazy Kat Klub. Opening shortly after Prohibition was enacted, the Krazy Kat was well known for its boisterous live Jazz music performances and diverse clientele, including flappers, artists and D.C. elites who came to mix and mingle. The Klub had both an indoor area for entertaining and an outdoor courtyard with its own treehouse! Our exhibit will tell its story.
Of course, the cars are still the stars in our new exhibit. Parked in the back alley you will find examples of cars enjoyed by the young and affluent in the roaring twenties, including a Pierce Arrow Model 80 Roadster, a Cole 890 Sport Coupe, and a Roamer Speedster.

Memorial Day Observance @ LA National Cemetery
CCCA of So. Cal., Memorial Day Observance
Los Angeles National Cemetery, Monday, May 26
By Special Invitation – Memorial Day Observance, Los Angeles National Cemetery, West Los Angeles
The Board of Directors of the Los Angeles National Cemetery has invited us back by exclusive invitation to our membership to participate in its Memorial Day Observance on Monday, May 26. We have been asked to display our Classics and any military-style collectible vehicles under our care in a specially designated parking area for display during the program. There is no charge for this event.
Dedicated in 1889, the cemetery began as an extension of the Pacific National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers, the only National Home located west of the Rocky Mountains. The site has grown to over 127 acres of exquisitely manicured grounds. Veterans from the Mexican-American War, Civil War, Spanish-American War, World Wars I and II, Korean War, Vietnam War, Iraq War and War in Afghanistan are laid to rest here.
Early buildings on the site were constructed from 1939 to 1941 by the Works Progress Administration (WPA) in Spanish Colonial style. The chapel was rededicated as the Bob Hope Memorial Chapel on May 29, 2022, his 99th birthday, in “celebration of his lifelong service to our American veterans.”
There are two canine burials at Los Angeles National Cemetery – “Old Bonus,” a Huskie adopted pet of residents in the Soldiers' home; and “Blackout,” a Doberman Pinscher war dog wounded in the Pacific during World War II.
Thank you in advance for your participation in this very special event on such a noteworthy day for our country!
Time and Place: Plan to arrive a 7:45 a.m. at the main entrance for placement and parking. The Los Angeles National Cemetery is located at 950 S. Sepulveda Blvd., Los Angeles, 90049. Entrance is just north of Wilshire Blvd. on the right. There will be coffee and doughnuts for members showing their Classics and you are welcome to bring your own lawn or folding chairs.
Program and Observance: General Public arrives 8:00-10:00 a.m.; Program 10:00-11:00 a.m.
Departure: 11:00 a.m. on. You are welcome to stay as long as you like to visit the grounds or converse with spectators who may like to visit with you and thank you for being there.

The big activity is the Trailsport Adventure, an off-road ride-along experience in Honda’s new 2026 Passport, that’ll include steep inclines/declines, berms, articulation, etc. We’ll also have a display of multiple forms of rugged, off-road capable products.

Tech Talk Event and Lunch
Voigt’s Classic Car Care 16522 Hoffa Lane, Riverside, California. 92504
Have you ever been driving your Classic down a beautiful country road, enjoying the scenery, not a cloud in the sky, wild birds chirping when suddenly strange noises emerge from the engine bay? Or the engine stops with no warning? Or the gearbox starts wining like a two-year-old child begging for another cookie? Of course you have! You own an 80- or 90-year-old temperamental pile of iron that is always looking for ways to surprise and disappoint you.
Fear not, help is on the way! Join us and fellow members of the San Diego/Palm Springs Region for our first Club event of the new year. On January 25, Club members and past Regional Directors Eric Voigt and Steve Snyder will host a tech talk at Eric's restoration shop in Riverside that will address the care and maintenance of your Classic.
All those strange noises and sudden breakdowns will be expertly resolved by Eric and Steve. They promise they'll have all the answers, so bring your list of questions with you. An additional presentation from a representative of Torco USA, Inc. will also be made. Torco manufactures technologically-advanced blended fuels and racing motor oils.
Lunch will be catered by Dad's BBQ, and Eric and Steve will host a wine and beer bar. So bring a healthyappetite with you! The lunch charge is $24 per person with no charge for beer and wine, compliments of Eric and Steve.

Wreaths Across America Day at Los Angeles National Cemetery
Saturday, December 14, will be "Wreaths Across America Day" at all the national cemeteries across the country. SoCal Region members have invited to display our classics on the premises during the morning hours.
Arrival would be at 8:00 a.m., laying of wreaths would begin at 9:00 a.m. and we would stay until 11:00 a.m. If anyone would like to participate and show their car, and possibly even volunteer laying wreaths, simply respond to Gary Car by email here with your name and the car you plan to bring. This is voluntary and one of those "nice to do" opportunities in the community. If you choose to sponsor a wreath, that is completely voluntary as well.
